Hi everyone! My name is Richard Phan. I have the pleasure of being the President of the University of Iowa Vietnamese Student Association for the 2025-2026 school year. By cultivating leadership, friendships, and sharing culture, our organization has become a community that countless students are proud to be a part of.

For this year’s Tet/Lunar New Year show, my team and I have put in countless hours of hard work to make this show one to be remembered. This year’s theme, “Bloom Within the Flame”, is inspired by the year of the Fire Horse. It signifies the beauty found in the resilience and passion of everyday life.

We can’t wait to show you all of the hard work that has gone into the planning and performances for this year’s show. My executive board, as well as the general members, have shown me day in and day out why I’ve grown an incredible love for VSA. I could not be prouder of all the students involved with this show, and I hope to continue to build a safe space full of joy that these students can cherish forever. Thank you everyone for supporting our students and organization. We would not be able to do it without you. Enjoy the show and have a wonderful year full of prosperity, joy, and strength.
